Gluten-Free Dining (sort of) – Perkins Restaurant

Another weekend, another road trip. (This is getting to be a habit.) Another frantic search on the Inter-Web for a possible gluten-free meal, all the while offering up thanks to the Goddess of Wi-Fi.

Yeah, I live dangerously, don’t I? Ha!

Last weekend, we found ourselves looking for a breakfast joint. We were in familiar territory, but staying in a different section of town than we normally do, and didn’t want to trek twenty miles or so to a restaurant we knew to be safe.

After a few minutes on the web, I found this Nutritional Calculator for Perkins Restaurant. While Perkins doesn’t have a gluten-free menu per se, the calculator allows you to see ingredients of everything they serve. A few clicks, and I found out the omelets were safe. Which worked out well, since we were in a breakfast mood.

So anyway, while I’m not sure I would try anything else there, I had success with Perkins’ omelets. (Your mileage may vary.) Really, sometimes all I need in life are a few eggs, wrapped around some melted cheese. Plus, never underestimate the ability to eat a spontaneously, even if its just breakfast.
