Gluten-Free Dining – Yard House

Yard House is not a gluten free environment. Products containing gluten are prepared in our kitchen.

Those are the words that great you at the top of the gluten-free menu at Yard House restaurant. Not exactly comforting. But not surprising. After all, I was about to dine in a place that has 100 to 250 different gluten-filled beers on tap at any given time. No, really, I was completely aware that Yard House is not a gluten free environment. And you know what? While dining at Yard House in West Palm Beach, FL, I felt completely safe.

Yard House has a nice variety of items on their gluten-free menu. It took a while to decide, but eventually I settled on the Shrimp Rice Bowl with Thai Basil Pesto on the side. Though the beer selections are geared toward gluten eaters, I could at least enjoy a bottle of Redbridge beer or Wyder’s cider with my meal.

One thing that struck me during my visit to Yard House was that no one was fazed by the whole gluten-free thing. Talking with the hostess and the waitress, I found out there are several people each week that request the gluten-free menu. I didn’t feel out of place, uncomfortable, or unsure of my options. I simply ordered and enjoyed my food.

It’s been a long time since I felt that way in a restaurant. And yes, I will definitely go back.

It seems more and more people know about gluten intolerances and are more sensitive to those who hae this condition. HUGS
