Happy Holidays from Li and David!
A writer, runner, and Gluten-Free Zealot, I’ve been helping others navigate the gluten-free lifestyle for many years. Life is meant to be enjoyed, and when you’re gluten-free, it’s even better!
I’ve been home for a whole two hours, and am already checking all my favourite blogs.
Interestingly enough, my daughter, who lives in Holland, went to Germany the other day for the Christmas market I stayed home with her kids, to babysit), and came home not only with lots of crafts and similar from the market, but . . . a box of Dunkin Donuts!
Obviously I can’t eat them, but it got me craving donuts, and I told her that as soon as I got home and went shopping, I intended to make donuts. And here’s the recipe, waiting for me. You must be psychic!
Glad to help out! Here’s a tip: if you don’t want to go to the trouble of rolling them out, just drop spoonfuls of the dough into the hot oil. Still yummy, and a lot faster…
And I can’t believe someone would go to Germany from Holland and buy Dunkin’ Donuts. All those wonderful European pastries around, how does Dunkin’ stay in business? Mind boggling…
See, that’s the thing . . . you eat those pastries year in and year out. Gorgeous stuff. Then, one day, you see something from the States, from home, something nostalgic, and you WANT IT! It’s not for the taste, but it’s comfort food.
I have American friends here who have someone ship them a box of Kraft Mac and Cheez, or some Country Time Lemon-Ade, or a box of Cap’n Crunch, when they miss home.
Happy New Year, BTW!!! Doughnuts today!!
(Oh, and Krispy Kreme just opened up a shop inside HARROD’S!!! Disgusting, innit?)
