“One should never trust a woman who tells one her real age. A woman who would tell one that, would tell one anything.”~Oscar Wilde, A Woman of No Importance
LOL! Just today, I told my students.
We were talking about how many years ago it was I’d been there age, competing in the spelling bee, and I said, let’s see . . . I was 12 then, like you are now . . . Wow! Was it really forty years ago?!? (One said, ‘Wow. My mum is only 38 and she looks ten years older than you.’ I told him to never say that to her.)
‘Age is only a number’ — who said that?? Or, ‘You’re as young as you feel’?
I’ve broken this rule, too. In fact, I’ve “padded” my age if I’m in the mood for compliments. Only by a year or two (or five), mind you, and I always come clean in the end. But it’s fun for a few moments.
