Gluten-Free Cooking Spree, part two

Yesterday I wrote about the South Florida Gluten-Free Cooking Spree. Today I received more information about the event from Phyllis Kessler, president of the Palm Beach County Celiac Support Group:

Alice Bast, Executive Director of The National Foundation for Celiac Awareness, and Vanessa Maltin, Director of Programming and Communications of NFCA will be speaking. There will be popular national vendors at the event with samples of their foods to take home, and for you to ask questions about their products. A few of the vendors attending are Prometheus Labs, Bob’s Red Mill, Blue Diamond Growers, Boar’s Head, Anheuser-Busch, Stonyfield Farms, Alba Therapeutics, Magner’s Cider, Woodchuck Cider, Thai Kitchen, Bell & Evans, Mr. Krispers, Pamela’s Products, Noah’s Pretzels, Kettle Cuisine, Anna’s Swedish Delights, Glutino, Dr. Lucy’s cookies, Food Should Taste Good, Glutenous Minimus, Joan’s Gluten-Free Great Bakes, Mary’s Gone Crackers, Nutritious Creations, Boomi Bar, Foods by George, Majan’s Bhuja and Soy Joy.

Anheuser-Busch will be providing free Redbridge Gluten Free Beer throughout the evening, and there will also be hard cider and wine provided by Magner’s and Woodchuck.

Please join us and enjoy an evening full of great gluten free hor d’oeuvres, desserts, beer and wine!!!! This is night where you won’t have to worry about what you eat, but just enjoy the fun!

VIP Admission: $100 (includes a goody bag and an autographed copy of Beyond Rice Cakes by Vanessa Maltin)
General Admission: $50
Kids & Students: $35

I’m planning to go. I am, however, completely unable to consume $50 worth of gluten-free food and booze. Okay, maybe I could, but I’m also way too cheap to pay. And I wouldn’t fork over $100 because I already own an autographed copy of Vanessa Maltin’s Beyond Rice Cakes (good cookbook, by the way!) and I’m not sure that goody bag could really be that goody. So I’m going to volunteer my way in. It’s fun, it’s free, and you get more time to talk to the participants. If you are in the area, and want to participate, email me at nooner911 AT bellsouth DOT net, and I’ll put you in touch with the right people.
